Twiggy started his career in the 1960s spinning discs at Dreamland in Margate, and went on to be a Pirate DJ, working for off-shore stations Swinging Radio England, Radio Caroline South, Radio Luxembourg and Radio Northsea International.
In the 1970s Twiggy moved on to work in commercial radio and has worked for many stations since, including Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio, Birmingham’s BRMB, Radio West in Bristol, BBC Radio Kent, Pirate FM in Cornwall and Jazz FM in London amongst others.
Voted “Best Live DJ” back in the seventies, Roger is passionate about his music and likes to escape from radio stations that are forced to play the same list of songs over and over again around the clock.
But for most people they know him best as Peter Kay’s radio presenter ‘Mike’ featured extensively on BBC1’s Car Share.
Radio waves is proud to feature Rob and the Forever Radio show, playing all those classic songs that you just don’t hear on your radios.
Rob is one of the hardest working names in radio, On Delux Gold Rob will be hosting a show featuring some of the best songs that you may have forgotten about.

Geoff started his career at the age of 13 and within five years was one of the Mecca Group’s top DJs, being used as their opening act for their new venues nationwide. In the 70s, Geoff also worked on Q102 in Florida, USA and KZUN in Dallas, Texas. In the 80s, you’d have heard him on the legendary pirate radio station Sunshine Radio. Geoff’s presenting didn’t go unnoticed in the USA where he was 4 times award winner for his shows Solid Gold Sixties and Supersonic 70s and he also received the Global SOLA Award for his show Kick-Up The 80s.
Geoff is now working on several specialist radio shows and can currently be heard on a number of stations in the UK, including Portsmouth’s 93.7 Express FM He has interviewed more than 2,100 artists over the last 10 years, including Sir Cliff Richard, Genesis, Status Quo, Blondie, The Searchers, Slade, Toto, Rick Astley, Foreigner and Jethro Tull… and that’s just the start of the list! We thought we had better include him in the website, in case he sulked! David is the man behind Delux radio having come up with the original concept 4 years ago. He famously NEVER gives up! His stubborn determination has turned not only Delux Radio into a large internationally listened to internet channel, But he has built up a large company supplying radio to some of the worlds most prestigious cruise ships. The one good thing about Covid has meant that he is stuck at home in his ‘world famous’ seaside studios’ (as he calls it) and not jetting off all over the globe onboard cruise ships.
A little bit about David
David started out as a mobile DJ using a 200 watt disco console with Garrard sp25 turntables, but his interest in radio started from an early age when he first heard Kenny Everett on Radio 1! “His zany sense of humour and comic timing were genius,” says David. It had a profound affect on him and has definitely influenced his style of presenting. During David’s varied career he gained a lot of experience at the BBC, then went on to work with Jounglers Comedy Clubs, helping to create the careers of many of today’s familiar household names.
David has been fortunate to travel the world, supplying major hotels, venues and cruise ships with top quality artists through his successful entertainment agency. He says “I have been humbled by the many great people I have had the pleasure to work with and to interview along the way, a highlight being Bill Clinton on board Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 cruise liner. But creating Delux Radio has become my passion and is my greatest achievement to date.”
What makes David happiest is being at home in Kent with his dog Teddy, where he records his shows from his beachfront home with a beautiful view of the English Channel. He loves his “rant” in the afternoons and enjoys nothing more than including a little irreverent humour along with his opinions on anything and everything making the news, all washed down with plenty of cups of tea – and two hours of the best music you’ll hear anywhere! David says “I think you can tell I love my radio… and in the words of Kenny Everett “I prefer Radio to Television…because the pictures are better!”

Paul J Rose
Like many of our presenters here at Delux, Paul first got into radio by way of his local hospital radio station way back in 1989. By the early nineties, he’d moved on to satellite radio – a medium which most people neither heard, nor heard of at the time. Stations would boast potential listener figures in the hundreds of millions, yet their actual listener figures were substantially less! Then he bought the eye patch, buried some treasure and became a pirate, working for a brief time on The Voice of Peace in Israel, but choppy seas and the sudden change of format to easy listening meant that he didn’t stay there long.Returning to the UK, it was time for him to settle down and get a ‘proper job’, although he never strayed too far from a microphone and now spends his time between radio shows as a voice over artist.Paul has enjoyed some interesting roles as a voice over. He’s been the voice of Kermit the Frog for a celebrity’s 60th birthday party, the voice of the American Flag for NASCAR and is currently a mole, a zebra, a wizard and a car across various children’s shows on Netflix. Here on Delux, he’ll be enjoying his childhood and bringing us our favourite memories from the 1980s with The Aptly Named Eighties Show. There’ll be music for everyone – New Romantics, Goths, people who quite liked Chesney Hawkes – you name it.

Mark St John
Favourite things that he loves to enjoy are spending time with his family and friends, BBQs, dining al fresco, discovering new recipes, wines and gins. Working in the garden and growing vegetables is a new passion.
A list of dislikes would include reality TV, illegally downloading music and unscrupulous music management making millions off of the back of new artists struggling to release their own music. Hmmm, I wonder who he’s thinking of?!
Having worked in Europe, South-East Asia and the Middle East, it is no surprise to learn that Mark loves travel and experiencing new cultures. Now living in France, a love of all things ‘Français’ even includes discovering new bands, such as the French progressive artists Frank Carducci and Lazuli.
Music: Where to begin?! Mark’s tastes could best be described as ‘eclectic’ although he admits that he loves most things tending towards the more Progressive and experimental end of the spectrum. Favourite artists include the obvious, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes and the less well known, Steven Wilson, Pendragon, IQ, It Bites and of course, Marillion!
From a young age, music was a huge part of Mark’s life and he spent many evenings listening to DJs Tommy Vance and his Friday Rock Show, Bob Harris, Kenny Everett, John Peel along with the DJs of Radio Caroline aboard the MV Ross Revenge. Little did Mark know that working in his ‘day job’ alongside the Chris Williams would result in Mark sitting in on Chris’ shows and learning the art of making magic himself!
A brief discussion between Chris and David (of which Mark had no part whatsoever) resulted in being offered a two hour slot on Saturday night; Progressive Nights was born! Thrown totally in at the deep end, the learning curve near vertical, Mark has embraced his opportunity with enthusiasm and although still the ‘newbie’ he admits that amongst his biggest regrets are not getting involved in the radio industry much earlier.
Another regret would be never having had the chance to see ABBA and Talk Talk perform live.
So, broadcast live every Saturday night at 10pm with a truly international listenership, Progressive Nights also repeated on Monday nights at 8pm. Look out for a new show too, coming soon on the sister station, Delux Gold!
He grew up in SW Florida and got my first taste of DJing at the high school radio station…OK, it wasn’t really a radio station, it was cable coming from the library to the cafeteria at lunchtime.
It was fun and my first time behind the mic.
After a 4 year stint in the US Air Force he found myself working part time in a radio station in New York but then got married and had to get a regular job with benefits and everything so I had to walk away for a while.
He ended up driving a forklift at a Budweiser (Anheuser Busch Inc.) for 25 years.
He then started doing voice-overs from my home studio I built part time in 2012.
He retired from my forklift job last November which allows me to pursue things that I love now.
Nigel was born when radio was still in black & white and he suffered the days of Listen With Mother but loved the Light Programme comedy, which he still collects today – The Goons, Tony Hancock, The Navy Lark, Round The Horne etc. right up to today’s modern radio sitcoms.
He knew radio was for him when he heard the pirates and even set up his own radio station at home – a cable service for Mum and Dad with different shows in the kitchen and the lounge! Nigel started DJing at school near Croydon, Surrey, with the lunchtime disco, before becoming a mobile DJ around London and Surrey in 1972.
His first jobs were for the BBC, first in News Information and then in the biggest record library in the world, the BBC Gramophone Library, where he learned the craft of radio as he sat in studios and offices watching the masters at work. A founding member of a five-hospital radio station in South London, he found time to play jazz on a commercial station before concentrating on running a disco agency for other jocks, mobile and in clubs and pubs in South London, providing voiceovers and creating jingles whilst still on the road himself.
In 2008 he joined Seahaven FM in Seaford, East Sussex, playing pop and soul over four shows whilst also being a programme controller. Nigel started working for Valley FM in Orba, Spain in August 2017 and is now delighted, over the moon and somewhat chuffed to have shows on Delux Gold, helping to bring radio back to what it was then and will be again – entertainment with personality!
As someone who grew up during the 60/70/80s his love of these decades has been very apparent in the shows he has hosted.
Notwithstanding this he has also been at the forefront of promoting hits from the 90s to today fronting breakfast, daytime, drive and late night love.
Although music is his first love Al has also covered the speech based political aspect with the all-night General Election coverage on local radio.

He is probably one of the most loyal team members at Delux and hence from this day forward he is now known as the ‘Rockin Regal Loyal Ruler’!
Phil has been a professional Entertainer since 2002 working all over the U.K.
He started off working holiday parks in the South East before moving onto P&O Ferries which saw him take the role of Entertainments Manager.
A contract with Shearings Holidays gave him the opportunity to perform his now successful tribute show “The Tommy Cooper Experience”
He toured the U.K. with the West End smash hit Jus’ Like That as understudy to main star Jerome Flynn and even performed his show for Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Phil presents his own magic show for various children’s parties as well as appearing in comedy dinner shows playing roles such as Rodney in “Only Fools and Horses” as well as Basil in “Fawlty Towers”
Phil presents this show on Delux Radio featuring music and memories from the 1990’s – a show which he’s always wanted to present as this was his decade, leaving school and finding his way in life (which he’s still trying to do even now)
He will have 3 from 1 including 3 songs from the same artist as well as his competition In Reverse.
Plus he’ll be taking to special guests too.
He also worked on the Voice of Peace off Tel Aviv, in 1980 after the Mi Amigo sank .
From 1981 moving to Eire to work on a number of stations including Sunshine Radio and Radio Nova in Dublin, and Corks South Coast Radio.
Back to sea in the mid 80’s to help in the set up of Laser 730 later Laser 558. Before joining ILR station for Hereford and Worcester Radio Wyvern in 1987
Lewis was programme controller of Kent-based station Invicta FM from 1992 to 1993 and also presented on the station.
Since 1997 he has been broadcasting on the KMFM network, based at the Thanet studio, and was one of the first presenters on what was then TLR 107.2. He presented weekday breakfast on KM FM until being made redundant in March 2012 following the arrival of a networked breakfast show. He also formerly presented Saturday breakfast on another KM networked show, “The Vinyl Years”, on Sunday evenings across all seven KMFM stations until September 2010.
Still active on Radio Caroline North, Johnny finds himself sandwiched between the Delus Radio and our new Channel Deluxgold.co.uk
In 1979 he joined P&O Cruises as an Entertainment Officer/Disc Jockey, on board SS Oriana and SS Canberra. Whilst overseas, he was offered freelance work in Gibraltar for the British Forces Broadcasting Service. He took up their offer and the following year went on to work at BFBS Germany.
In 1983 he took up the full-time post of Breakfast Show Presenter with the Commercial Radio Station for Ipswich, called Radio Orwell, now called Heart.
At the end of his contract with Orwell, he was offered a full-time staff job with BFBS so in 1985 he joined their biggest radio station BFBS Germany, first in the regional studios of Berlin, then in Cologne, as the Network Breakfast Show Presenter with a daily audience of 10 million listeners.
After leaving Germany Stuart travelled with BFBS to Gibraltar, Belize, Honk Kong, Paderborn Germany, Brunei, London, Bosnia and Catterick.
During his twelve years with BFBS Stuart held many positions, such as, Presenter, Senior Producer, Music Director, Station Manager, Head of Presentation and Deputy Controller Worldwide Programming BFBS London.
Stuart left BFBS in 1997 as he was very unhappy with the way radio had changed to a computerised music scheduling format with no opportunity to have any musical input in to his show. Stuart went on to work for KFM Tonbridge, European Klassic Rock via Satellite, Sovereign Radio Eastbourne and BBC World Service in Network Operations.
Stuart has also been seen on many tv programmes and films over the years as a walk on. he has appeared in The Bill, EastEnders, Holby, Star Wars, Jack & the Beanstalk and many others.
Over the last few years Stuart has again been involved in radio, more behind the scenes with various internet radio companies.
But now he is really looking forward to getting back to his first love, presenting.
Stuart said “I can’t wait to start broadcasting for Delux Gold, picking my own music again and formatting the show, just like radio used to be. It’s going to be great”

He has a huge collection of vinyl 11,000 LP’s and about 7,000 singles and 6,000 cds, collecting is an addiction. started out doing hospital radio and many radio shows online, his oldies show is a mix of stuff from 50s to 60s maybe some 70s.
He also loves the odd obscure track and act that needs to be heard by more people.
Johnny will host an hour of the music he loves from the 40s, 50s and 60s on Delux Radio along with Serenade Radio with his Big Band Special.
Johnny says, “This may appear to be a far cry from my old BBC job but it gives me the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for my favourite music. I am a huge fan of Serenade with its broad appeal to the older audience and when David Wimble from Delux asked me if I could do a show with Delux Gold, We agreed to let them use the show too.
The Big Band Show which is no longer catered for by the BBC or Independent Radio. I am looking forward very much to sharing my enthusiasm with many listeners.”

Music is a huge part of who I am, this encouraged me to follow a path to university where I studied for a BA Professional Music Performance and Production where I specialised in events production and live sound production.
Something I really enjoy, is seeing artists take to the stage and perform with all their love and energy. Which get me wanting to play artists that people don’t necessarily know on the radio, to get a conversation started about them and to be a part of their journey. Radio presenting gives me the opportunity to be me, to chat about things that are current and not so current. To spread a little bit of positivity and happiness and to encourage others to do the same.
